Magic Muscle #4

By the summer of 1977, after Rod had left the Third Ear Band, another Magic Muscle reunion was called.

RR: "It was strange that in the middle of the summer of 1977 just after I left The Third Ear Band and while Adrian was with Hawkwind (about to go to America on the "Quark Strangeness and Charm "promotional tour) they called another Magic Muscle reunion. Now there's me (suffering from, you know, whatever - you name it, I seem to have had it) very, very sick but drying out (or trying to dry out) and suddenly a Magic Muscle reunion is called, original lineup except for Kenny Wheeler (we got Nick Howell from Stroll On and Dragons on drums). The thing took place in the middle of the country, a kind of festival near Bath and the object was to get all the equipment needed for a children's playground (which we succeeded in doing, so it was a good one). Basically it was a great success and I've got it on cassette, a rough recording of it, and it doesn't sound too bad considering that we hadn't played together since the last one two years previously, and without rehearsals or anything. We just got up there and played."
