Magic Muscle #2

Mark II of the band carried on until July of 1973 with Kenny Wheeler, Pete Biles & Huw Gower (from the original Magic Muscle) being joined by Big Pete on vocals, John Perry on guitar & Bill Giles on piano.  All three had come from 'Over The Hill', a trio who, to quote their aim, was: "to perform original melodic material as an alternative to the years of heavy music the members had played".
By this time Over The Hill were getting nowhere with no work or deals on the horizon.  By joining forces with the remains of Magic Muscle #1 the band (Magic Muscle) was able to fulfill it's tour dates. The quote now became: "to perform heavy music as an alternative to doing nothing". The band then moved the operation from Bristol to a farmhouse just outside of Bruton where some members of the Magic Muscle commune still live to this day.
The band Magic Muscle #2 is said to have wrapped it all up with a gig 800 feet above sea level at the Trentishoe Free Festival in North Devon. An awesome setting as anybody who has visited the site will tell you. Also included on the bill was 'The Fairies' (Pink one's of course), Chilli Willi & The Red Hot Peppers (not to be confused with the 'Red Hot Chilli Peppers'), & Norbert The Guru.
By now the band was beginning to disperse again to do their own projects. Huw Gower carried on with 'Stroll On' where Pete 'Dan The Man' Flanagan managed them. Pete, at that time worked for Virgin Records and went on to be the anchor for Zippo (no, not the petrol lighter company).
